As frequent business and leisure travellers (Starwood Gold and Platinum members), we have been very fortunate to have stayed in some outstanding properties throughout the world. Thus, we are particular about our hotels. Because we have benefitted greatly from other Starwood guest reviews, we leave this review in the hope that it may help other guests such as ourselves or those interested in staying at this hotel. We had carefully researched and assessed the hotels in Rome carefully before making our decision, and it was well worth it. In addition to being a beautiful hotel in the grand European Imperial tradition, this hotel's generous and thoughtful hospitality ranks among the best in the world. We are incredibly glad to have stayed here as part of a special anniversary trip. Exceptional Hospitality: Because of our visit’s special nature, we clarified any questions in advance with the hotel's general manager. Once a guest receives the hotel reservation’s email confirmation, there is an opportunity to contact the hotel with any questions to prepare for his/her upcoming stay. We highly recommend that guests use this opportunity to facilitate a smooth and personalised stay. The general manager and his staff are extremely responsive, warm, and hospitable. Throughout our stay, we were impressed by their ability to exceed expectations and anticipate desires. After a smooth check-in and throughout our stay, the management team proved that there was no challenge too impossible for them to solve. From our experience, they promptly addressed any questions, no matter how big or small. The general manager and his exceptional associate exceeded our highest expectations and created a truly comfortable and special stay for us. For example, we generally prefer cooler temperatures. Although we visited during the Roman winter’s start (18C average daily temperature and a generally cool season), we desired even cooler room temperatures. The management team immediately worked to provide sufficiently powerful fans until our preference was met, and followed up to ensure our comfort with the room's temperature. Each day, the team exceeded our best expectations: thoughtfully following up to ensure that our stay was comfortable and luxurious. Very generous and hospitable gestures welcomed us after a long day of historical sight-seeing, which enhanced what was becoming one of our most memorable visits to Europe. The general manager's associate is one of the most capable, skilful, and genuinely hospitable professionals that we have ever met. On our last day, she sent us a very touching farewell message accompanied by a unique parting gift from Rome that we will always cherish. From beginning to end, our stay was a pleasure. This was due to its thoughtful, hospitable, and highly capable management and operations team. Under the current management's expert leadership and direction, this hotel can only get better. We are excited for its extensive renovation. Our stay was so special that we wish we could return soon; we will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Rome and recommend this hotel to our personal friends, family, and business associates as an excellent place to stay for leisure or business. Additionally, the housekeeping team is warm, friendly, and solicitous: doing their best to ensure an ample supply of towels, toiletries, and nightly chocolates. Our room was thoroughly cleaned everyday. The team members we encountered always greeted guests with a smile. Amenities: Our shower's hot water came quickly and at a high temperature. The tap water was perfectly drinkable. Although we received bottles of water as Starwood Gold members, we drank the tap water frequently. Rome has high quality, clean drinking water; guests will find water fountains and taps located everywhere in the city. Concierge: We did not engage the concierge’s services often, but when we did, all were friendly and helpful. Their restaurant recommendation for local Roman food was good and we would return next time (we forget its name, but the restaurant is located about 3 walking blocks from the hotel). Location: This beautiful and grand hotel is located in an elegant, safe, quiet, and peaceful neighbourhood within easy walking distance to foreign embassies and excellent restaurants (some Michelin starred). Thankfully, there are no selfie stick selling trinket vendors/peddlers in this neighbourhood. We absolutely loved this safe and exclusive location. Transportation: This hotel is near the must-see museum Galleria Borghese and Villa Borghese. This hotel is a quick 5-7 minute walk to the Barberini metro / train station and a pleasant 15 minute walk to popular tourist attractions such as the Spanish steps. This hotel is directly across the street from bus lines that will take you to many of the key sites in Rome. This location was so convenient that we mainly traveled by metro, bus, and train.
